This is definitly not the final state since the framework offers quite some more widget features, but i build this widget some time ago and had not the time to fill it up all the way. This way it leaves some air for updates

This is the first Widget that implements an option for using a Javascript Slider. The slider lets you open and close a widget. The usage needs a little bit of html experience, but i´m trying to improve that and give a decent example.

Also brand new is the Options Dump. You can copy/paste your Widget Option stringified from one widget or blog to another. If your friend does not know how to set the right options, just send her yours without having to click through 10 fields.

Usage 

1. Go into the new King Framework Options Panel and activate the  "Insert Sliding Javascript to Head"

2. go to the login widget options and activate "Use Sliding Box"

3. The difficult part:

You have to fill the custom html options fields. The Box needs to be wrapped in a colappsible elemet(div/li/p) with special ID and you have to give the click event to some element. Since this can vary with your blogtemplate i left this up to you .

Last night i found the solution. I got inspired by a WordPress RSS Plugin made by the SimplePie Team. The Plugin did not threw me of my chair but SimplePie provides a pretty neat looking RSS-Feed-Mangeling – Class  which i instinctivly had to check.  The time was well spend and the SimplePie RSS class is really doing a good job.

Anyway enough of those boring "under the hood"-details, you came here for an RSS Widget. King RSS allows you to have a different looking feed in every widget. It has HTML fields with placeholders (%title% / %link% ..) to configure the feed title information and each feed list item. If course you also have some switches to play with, there is an Ad-Stripper, a caching mechanism, configurable feed text length, No. of feed items …go check the features.

Before i forget, you can also use a feed function inside your template (Documentation comming soon).

Usage 

I did not had the opportunity to test all kinds of RSS Feeds. Therefore there might be some hidden Bugs or more needed features.

Atm don´t have the time to write an extensive tutorial. If you are a total beginner in html and wordpress you probably just want to use the original wp rss widget. If you still want to try i made a default switch to give you a descent start.

If you want to use the RSS Function inside your templates, please stay tuned i´ll document that after i´ll get the first feedback. 

I have changed the License. It is not GPL for this widget. You are free to use it in private and charity enviroment. If you are using it for commercial purposes please contact me for a little licence fee and enhanced support.

I´ve added support for searching only in a specific Category, by choosing one from a dropdown menu.

I implemented a spellchecking on the search words, which will suggest the right word or term. When found you can klick it to search your site again.

Both Options can be disabled of course. This is not the end of all wit’s. I have more on my mind, but first want to wait for your feedback.

Those of you that are already using my King widgets might askes themselves why to upgrade .. well i implemented a better AJAX foldable Admin Menu, made some css improvements and cleaned up the folder structure.

The Framework includes:

• one Language file for all King Widgets (currently only german)
• CSS Styles for widgets
• JS used in Widgets
• Images for Adminarea
• php libraries for Forms and Admin Head includes

Since those are a a couple of files, it is kinda hard to give the framework an overall numbering scheme. Therefore I´ll keep track of the changes in a changelog.txt file and go by date. The php and css files aditionally have an internal version numbering.

For future changes I´ll always put up the whole framework (Folder king-includes) so you can simply replace your existing files with that. 
Yes i know i need a public SVN .. we are working on that and some more changes to make our wordpress plugins, themes and widgets easier available.

Known issues 

CSS Background Images in Widgets Admin are not shown.

If you have your WordPress installation inside a subfolder on your webspace e.g. ww.mySuperSite/wordpress/ you need to adopt the background image pathes in the CSS-Style Sheet. Those background images give your widget headers and the king widget menus a nicer look.

Look for those lines in king-includes/css/king_widget.css

append your install sub directory in front of the line:

Internet Explorer shows all Menu´s open

I tried 4 hours to get by a ie bug and have not found a decent solution yet. If you are still using IE,  well … that´s your problem, you will not be able to see those nice sliding menu´s. The bug shut the widgets admin menu´s  directly after you opened them.

Please get yourself a descent browser:

The good News … I implemented a css style hack so that you can still set all King Widget Options and therefore use all King Widgets. All Menu Options of the widget are initally expanded.
Hopefully one of our CSS Freakz can give me a hand with this, or maybe you find a solution!

Widgets will revolutionize the way normal users can interact with wordpress.

Therefore i wanted to write a plugin for one of the most used  (and at least by me, most hated) wordpress template placeholder … the list_cats() It´s used for the category listing in the sidebar or somewhere else in your Website.
This function has a big ass eighteen Variables long parameter list, which let me struggle again and again. Also because there are big differences between setting a var to "false" or "0" (nicely mixed up in template-functions-category.php Line: 277 ).
I always ended up in an hour of trial and error until i had my custom category navigation build.

Anyway this WordPress Widget will hopefully wipe away your fear of the list categories function and makes it easy to screw around in the category navigation.

I´m still having problems to implement it as a real WP 2.0 Plugin, because the new wysiwyg-hooks aren´t very good documented yet. While trying i also took the buttonsnap class by Owen Winkler, which is inevitable to accomplish this.

After 3 hours i said to myself: "Damn i should know jScript better"   (help enrico) 

Ok what i did was plug it hard into the WordPress Tiny-Core. Further down are the instructions to do this. I hope this will be usefull to somebody .. please let me know!

Install Instructions:

Knowledge of coding needed: medium 

1. Look into the Zip
1a. Backup Backup Backup 

2. Copy Zip folder content to TinyMCE-folder to /wp-includes/js/tinymce/
watch out your original tiny_mce_gzip.php will be overwritten better make a backup. I´ll describe the changes made in step 6.

3. Edit your URL Settings in 
/tinymce/plugins/filemanager/insertfile/config.inc.php
You´ll see thoose 3 places directly at the beginning of the file.

4. Edit your URL + Language Settings in 
/tinymce/plugins/filemanager/insertfile/insert_file.php
You´ll find the available languages in filemanager/langs

5. Edit your URL + Language Settings in/tinymce/plugins/filemanager/insertfile/move.php

6. Edit /tinymce/tiny_mce_gzip.php 
This file is also included in the package, you can make the changes by hand or better diff bevore overwriting the original…. if you´ve not already done it

This Version is only for WordPress 2.0! This is because i adapted the new User Capabilities System for the backoffice.

The other big enhancement is the Gettext – Translation for better translation into you native language. Download comes with German translation only. Please feel free to translate. I´ll put it here on the site too.

Installation

 1. Read the Readme.txt

Upgrade:

1.Only install Version 1.18 if you are running WordPress 2.0 !! if you accidentially installed on older WordPress, just copy the wordspew.php from Version 1.17 over installed version.

2.Read the Readme.txt text it should be no Problem to upgrade from 1.17 or jalenack wordspew 1.16 or previous versions like said in the readme.

Hints: 

The Version 1.18 Download includes the german mo + po files. if you want to translate your own and don´t know how to just gimme a comment for now .. i´ll explain in another artikel on how to handle translations. 

Please backup your files and Database so you can perform a rollback.

Please give me a feedback if you run into problems or give me a note if you need other functions.

Ich habe den Plugin noch etwas tiefergelegt, damit man nicht immer in die Quelltext muss um Einstellungen vorzunehmen. Weiterhin wurde die ganze Funktionalität ausgebaut

– Test the Plugin with another account whose email you can also fetch, cause the Author won´t recieve an Email
– watch out it might be buggy so please report problems

Upgrade 

- since the filename has changed, just upload, deactive your old Version and set new Options

Achtung: Ich übernehme keine Garantie dafür das der Plugin reibungslos funktioniert.  Solltet Ihr Fehler finden bitte gebt mir ein Feedback.

Der User kann nun beim Eintragen wählen ob er eine Email bei Änderungen bzw. neuen Kommentaren erhalten will.

Ich habe dafür den Plugin "subscribe to comments" genommen, ihn ins Deutsche übersetzt und ein paar kleine Änderungen im HTML vorgenommen.

Der Plugin ist für WordPress 1.5.xx und ich habe noch nicht die Kompatibilität mit WordPress 2.0 getestet.
