Songbird ist ein Web-Music-Player, der auf der Browser-Engine vom Firefox aufbaut.
Songbird ist Open-Source, wird auf Windows-, Mac-OS X und Linux laufen und den unterstützt Cross-Plattform-Extensions (wie man es bereits von Firefox und Thunderbird kennt).
Songbird plays the Web. Play any MP3 on the Web without leaving the page. Songbird can view Web pages as dynamic playlists that it can play, save, or automatically download every day.
Songbird plays your music too. Songbird has all the features you expect in a desktop media player. And Songbird constantly improves. Like Firefox, Songbird’s features may be improved with user installed and contributed cross-platform extensions.
Soon, Web page authors will be able to publish playlists and transfer MP3s into Songbird to build digital music stores like eMusic, music subscription services like Yahoo! Music Unlimited, virtual jamming services like Ninjam, playlist sharing services like WebJay and more.

3. …das sehe ich auch als ganz großen Vorteil und stimme deinem Kommentar 100%ig zu!
Vorallem denke ich, dass bewährte Konzepte immer häufiger aufgegriffen werden.
Ist ja auch eine begrüßenswerte Geschichte… man muss sich nicht mehr nach Herstellern orientieren um mit Software klar zu kommen, sondern immer mehr nach Einsatzgebiet… will sagen, wenn man ein Tool kennt, ist die umgewöhnung zu einem anderen, vergleichbaren Tool — mit weiteren oder anderen Features — relativ simpel, was noch vor ein paar Monaten nicht der Fall war…
Hmmm, erinnert mich doch stark vom design her an itunes, aber viele gestalterischen möglichkeiten hat man in unserer heutigen zeit wohl nich mehr….
